Sorry, ive severe distraction from studying geog.
erm people, dont ever buy your petrochemicals from Royal Dutch Shell next time least you want to help in their following nefarious actions (and get strangled by me)-
1. The exploitation of oil resources in nigeria delta and ogoniland. whom its people and environment had suffered decades of..
2. Toxic gases emitted by unnecessary gas flaring. (the toxic gases alone emitted by shell is more than other oil companies combined in the WORLD)
3. Oil spillage (there were 2,976 oils spills alone from 1975-1991, probably killing your favourite seafood)
4. Poverty, hunger, diseases due to 0.002% of locals being actually hired by Shell.
5. Human rights violation-
In case you didn't know such a reputable corporation can do such heinous crimes..yes, they did- BRIBED people to fake as witnesses for the murders done by Ken saro-wiwa (a very lovable man and environmental activist) and his partners. Ken and his fellow activists were HANGED just after 8 days of conviction even though there were proofs of them not being anywhere near the sites of murder. Shell merely did so as to continue their monopoly power in nigeria, and thus even bribed government officials to stop hindering their actions.
and coincidentally, i just found out there's a trial for Shell tomorrow (may 26) in hope to bring some justice after 10s of years.
remember, don't support shell!
